MOSCAD
An intelligent PLC with the flexibility of an RTU
The MOSCAD (MOtorola SCADa) product family combines the power of an intelligent PLC with the flexibilty of an RTU. An integrated Motorola data radio seperates MOSCAD from other non-integrated RTU platforms.
Local Intelligence
MOSCAD is a microprocessor-based RTU with large memory capacity that can make control decisions on-site based on status conditions and values from local and remote sources.
Programmable
MOSCAD uses an advanced symbolic ladder logic application language to develop the data base conditions, values, and RTU profile that must exist for each control action, message transmission, etc. to occur. Routines written in ‘C’ may be executed as part of the total application.
Protocols
MOSCAD uses the OSI-based MDLC communication protocol for all data signaling. Multiple 3rd-party protocols are also supported. MDLC was specifically developed for two-way radio use but is completely applicable to microwave, wireline, and other media. It permits large volumes of data to be quickly transferred between terminals using packet transmission techniques.
Intrac System Upgrades
You can use MOSCAD or MOSCAD-L to replace your exisitng Intrac 2000 MRTUs. Through the use of the Intrac Communications Interface board, new MOSCAD and MOSCAD-L RTUs can be configured to run in parallel with existing Intrac 2000 MRTUs. Parallel operation allows full control over how fast the legacy MRTUs are phased out of the system.
Why Upgrade My Intrac System?
- Intrac 2000 radios communicate using 25 kHz channel spacing
- 25 kHz channel spacing has been phased out by the FCC
- Intrac is a discontinued product line, replacement parts are hard to find
- MOSCAD/MOSCAD-L adds increased programming capability including local auto-control and pump statistics
- MOSCAD/MOSCAD-L adds increased diagnostic information and remote site support
- ITS System Management screen allows for 1-click conversion from Intrac to MOSCAD site in SCADA
What others are saying
"Marc Brauer, Todd Brauer and the rest of the ITS team come highly recommended by Wake County as they have shown us that they are highly skilled in the setup, maintenance, and enhancement of the Motorola SCADA and the Wonderware InTouch product lines."
